A Castle:Broken Apart
In this one act drama for three actors, Rebecca and Lana live with their father, Isaac, who isn’t the easiest person to live with. So much so, that Rebecca has decided to leave home and move in with her boyfriend. She offers to take her sister, Lana with her. Lana is torn between going with Rebecca and finally living a life she dreams of and her loyalty to her father, who basically can’t really fend for himself. However, his generally unpleasant nature as well as his refusal to admit that their mother isn’t coming back home anytime soon proves more tempting than her father realizes and the reality that his wife and both his daughters are soon going to be gone is a hard pill to swallow.
A Famed Life
Picture it. You’re famous, super rich, and adored by your fans. Basically, you’re a little spoiled and let’s face it, slightly past your prime. And today, of all days, Yvette, your faithful, um, um… (well, you can’t call them servants nowadays, darling) up and leaves you. And she has the audacity to tell you exactly why in this ten minute comedy for two women.
A House of Dolls
In this script about a crazy family, Delilah, a young girl studying at college makes a big mistake by inviting her study partner (who just happens to be a boy) round to her house to study together. Now the females in Delilah’s family, the ‘Austen girls’ are basically made up of women who in their own words “Love men who then break their hearts and leave them!” Besides this tragic characteristic, they all share another – they are beautifully made up and very concerned with their appearances to the point where Delilah’s granny, mother and sister all look very similar, like dolls even. Their world is an old fashioned one – titivate yourself, meet the man of your dreams and get married. That’s what the Austen women do. The fact that Delilah is a physics major baffles them and the fact that she doesn’t want to take over the family hairdressing salon is equally puzzling. But the real problem for them is that Delilah seems to be making no effort to catch a man. So when she actually brings one round to the house, Heaven help him!
Lemonade Gurus
One act off the wall comedy about clowns, or rather, two ex clowns who are trying to run a lemonade stand. It’s not the first business (or the second, or the third) that they’ve started, and failed at. Somehow, they just don’t have the talent for it. This time, though, they’re determined to make it work. However, they run into a spot of bother when it is discovered they’re trying to sell on somebody else’s turf. It’s a cut throat business, lemonade selling, as the two unwitting ex clowns are about to find out.
Ratboy – failed superhero comedy script
Meet Ratboy – a superhero who absolutely sucks at what he does. Since the age of eight, he began to understand what the rats were saying to him and decided then and there to use his powers for good and save the world. Unfortunately things haven’t quite panned out the way he planned. He’s currently involved in a lawsuit involving a little old lady and her purse, which he removed from her so called assailant, who turned out to be her husband. His life blows. He’s overweight, in his forties and dresses as a rat. Now he’s in therapy. But will that actually help him? We’ll find out in this failed superhero comedy script.
The fence
In this ten minute comedy about relationships, we take a humorous look at the lives of two ordinary suburban couples. They are friends and the girls often go round to visit each other as do the guys. They are both at the time of their lives when it’s time to settle down, get married and have kids. It’s clear that that’s what they all want. Or is it?? Perhaps it’s just what they’re telling each other… ‘The fence’ examines the expectations of the girls and then the guys on the other side of the fence, taking the same situations that happen to the couples from completely opposite and funny perspectives. While explaining what happened to their friends, it can be said that the girls tend to embellish somewhat and the guys tend to over dramatize! But if you think that’s not really the case, why not read this funny script set in suburbia? You’ll identify with it.
The Girl who Didn’t Exist
Lucan is a bitter old man, on his deathbed. His only company is his dead wife, Maria, who may either be a ghost or part of Lucan’s imagination, depending on how the play is interpreted. Lucan’s children haven’t talked to their father for years, but now that they realise that he is ill, they have come back into his life. Lucan is bitter, feeling that the only reason they are there is for their inheritance. Have they truly come to make amends in this one act drama for 4 actors?
The things that happen in New York
In this drama set in New York, a young couple, Hank and Sarah struggling to make ends meet, lose their apartment and end up moving in temporarily with Hank’s brother Ted, his wife Joyce and their two babies. All in a one bedroom apartment. The stress brought on by losing their apartment after months of trying comes to a head as Hank and Sarah very naturally compare their situation to that of Ted and Joyce. When Sarah reveals that she has done something that in Hank’s eyes is an ultimate betrayal of trust, but in her eyes is something to bring them together, the couple is forced to confront that what they both want from life is ultimately very different.
