Emma Rosa and the Enchanted Forest

A quest story with a happy ending. Emma Rosa and her horse Smuggler set off to find a vet to treat Smuggler’s sore tummy. On the way they find Mister Chievious, a naughty monkey, who offers to be their guide. They find themselves lost in the enchanted forest in which trees and flowers can talk, move and sing. There are wolves in the forest too!

Little Red Riding Hood Goes Blue

Little Red Riding Hood is on her way to visit her Grandmother in the forest, to deliver her weekly supply of Paul Henry Show DVDs. However, on her journey she encounters first a National Party activist who wants to change her name from Red to Blue, a Woodcutter who has unusual ‘gender issues’ and a wolf (or man in wolf’s clothing) who could possibly be the sitting MP for Northland. She then meets the Fracker Brothers who are determined to find oil under the forest and mine it. The wolf delays Little Red Riding Hood and gets to Grandmother’s cottage before her. Little Red Riding Hood arrives to find the wolf masquerading as her Grandmother. The wolf’s evil plot is foiled by the arrival of the Fracker Brothers, the Woodcutter and activist Jacinta Fruitloop who calls in CYFFS and the Armed Offenders Squad. All ends happily with Grandmother restored to life, Red Riding Hood and the Woodcutter in love, and the forest designated as a new mining area.

Stir Crazy

A jolly boys’ week in the country becomes a nightmare when four men find themselves trapped in a fishing hut because of a flooded river. In an effort to pass the time, various inane games, pursuits and pastimes are tried, including an attempt to play poker with an incomplete deck of cards. Tensions in the hut rise to breaking point, until a single, trashy novel is found. They decide to read it at the same time by tearing out pages and handing them to each other. Only when the rain finally stops can the four make a dash for freedom.

his is pretty much Victorian Melodrama. The poor widow and her beautiful daughter live in a rat-infested hovel, continually pestered by their landlord, the wicked Sir Jasper Dreadful. Sir Jasper wants both the rent in arrears, and the daughter’s hand in marriage. Otherwise he will cast them out into the snow. However, the daughter has fallen in love with a failed Law Student, travelling minstrel and sometime busker. Her heart beats for him alone. During the piece, Sir Jasper continues to pursue the daughter until it is revealed that her Mother and Sir Jasper had a brief affair when they were young and the daughter is the result of that liaison. At first this does not deter Sir Jasper’s ardour until the Minstrel strikes back, now armed with his Law Degree and reveals that Sir Jasper unwittingly gave all his property to his first born child in an attempt at tax evasion. Now it is Sir Jasper who is about to be thrown out into the snow, until the widow reveals that she still loves him and much to his dismay he is forced to stay with her forever as her life-partner and reluctant lover.
