A lonely middle aged woman's journey to redemption from drugs, God and sexual abuse

Black Angel

The action is set in a small village in France where Martin Engel, a former SS officer accused of officiating over the massacre of 247 Jews in that very town during World War II, has come (after being released from prison) hoping to build a house and live out his days in peace and solitude. Although the war crimes authorities are satisfied that Engel has paid his debt to society the local townspeople are not of the same mind and his presence becomes a growing irritant. In his conversations with the local mayor, his only friend in the village, it becomes a clear that Engel is a thoughtful and intelligent man who served his country out of duty rather than desire, and who had actually given orders only to keep peace among the villagers and not to slaughter them. But the massacre did happen, and Engel cannot absolve himself from guilt by association. In the chilling climax of the play, therefore, he offers no resistance as the hooded figures of the townspeople, bearing torches, close in for his execution - raisin

The Lady and the Clarinet

The scene is the chic New York apartment of Luba, a woman successful in business but less fortunate in her private life. She is awaiting a male dinner guest and has engaged a clarinet player to provide romantic background music. Falling into a reverie, Luba begins to reminisce about the three men who have meant the most to her in her life thus far-which leads to a series of intriguing flashbacks. In the first Luba is sixteen and meets Paul, a young employee of her father's, who initiates her into the mysteries of sex, but bores her otherwise. Then comes Jack, a high-powered television producer who is successful, exciting and funny, but also married to someone else. Finally there is George, a rich widower who keeps the house for her but looks elsewhere for love. As the play ends the unanswered question is whether her new dinner companion will, at last, be "the man" she has been searching for-but, as the nonspeaking clarinet player so eloquently suggests with smiles, shrugs and instrumental trills, the prospect

  Într-un fel, actorii care aderă la şi practică teatrul în spaţii neconvenţionale sunt cu toţii de admirat din mai multe motive. Unul dintre el ele este cât se poate de concret: jucând în cluburi şi în diverse spaţii improvizate, îşi fac mâna, îşi exersează personalitatea şi acest exerciţiu trebuie să ducă undeva, cel puţin într-un spaţiu cultural normal.
  Deprind astfel obişnuiţa de a-şi face meseria în locuri care i-ar putea împiedica să ajungă la înălţimea de care sunt în stare, “se călesc” , se ambiţionează, de cele mai multe ori duc pe umeri tot greul. Pentru că mai toate producţiile de gen sunt construite pe o concepţie minimalistă, răspunderea esta a lor şi prea puţin a regizorului, să spunem. Actorii care şi-au găsit soluţia sau o soluţie în teatrul independent nu prea au nici un ajutor pe asemenea scene: totul depinde de ei. Scenografia este ca şi inexistentă, muzica joacă un rol, dar doar unul de palid auxiliar
