Avis: There is a growing body of research about what life is like for people with disabilities who have spent most of their lives in institutions. However there is very little written by the people who have actually experienced it. In 1995 a volunteer was approached to get to know Avis and to assist her to record some of her memories. The result is a thoughtful and moving, and here adapted into a play.
